Welcome to BAME to Boardroom

At BAME to Boardroom we passionately believe that everyone deserves equal opportunities for development and progression at work, irrespective of their background, circumstances and beliefs (gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, social mobility, age or disability). Our focus is Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) individuals who we know are less likely to be recruited and progress in the UK workplace compared with their white counterparts.

Race At Work Data

Here are some of the facts from various high-profile race at work and Diversity & Inclusion reports between 2015 and 2021. According to the 2021 Census 18.3% of the UK working age population come from Black, Asian and other ethnic backgrounds yet just 52 of the top 1,099 workplace roles in the UK are held by people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds. £24bn a year could be added to GDP with full Black, Asian and ethnic representation across the labour market.

11% of UK FTSE 100 organisations still have all white boards. Significantly more people from Black, Asian and ethnic backgrounds, than their counterparts said that progression was an important part of working life – but more people from Black, Asian and ethnic backgrounds say their career progression has failed to meet their expectations.
